The Flatiron Formations of Boulder are an iconic landmark along the Front Range of Colorado. Popular with climbers as well as hikers, the natural areas around boulder including The Flatirons host some of the Front Range of Colorado’s most majestic scenery. Thankfully, much of this land has been preserved as Open Space and National Forest which allows visitors access to these spectacular locations.
The City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks is host to many great trailheads that lead to miles of beautiful hiking and climbing. One of the most historic of these locations is Chautauqua Park, located at the base of the Boulder Flatirons. Established in 1898 Chautauqua Park grew out of the Chautauqua movement based on the love of nature, arts, continued learning and simple living.
