There is a little more than two dozen black bears roaming the landscape of Rocky Mountain National Park according to recent National Park Service studies. While they are not endangered in the park, the drier climate in Rocky keeps the population modest. Catching a glimpse of a black bear in the wilds of Rocky is always a treat. I was lucky enough to photograph this bear while it feasted on these chokecherries attempting to fatten up for the coming winter. Photo © copyright by Thomas Mangan.
