The iconic symbol of the National Park Service hangs just outside the front entry doors to the Beaver Meadows Entry Station. The signage which was commisioned in 1951 by the Department of the Interior is meant to symbolize the misson of the National Park Service. According to the National Park Service, 'The Sequoia tree and bison represent vegetation and wildlife, the mountains and water represent scenic and recreational values, and the arrowhead represents historical and archeological values'.
