I was on a backpacking trip in Wild Basin in late July when returning to my camp a large Thunderstorm came in over the divide and caused a brief but momentary ruckus near Thunder Lake. I was able to take shelter under the awning of the patrol cabin at Thunder Lake while I waitied out the rain and lighting. Just before sunset, the rain letup and the sun started to make its way out from around the clouds. A brilliant rainbow appeared just over the outlet of Thunder Lake. I made a sprint from the patrol cabin and setup to photograph a brilliant rainbow forming east of Thunder Lake as the storm moved out over the high plains of Colorado. This was one of the most impressive Rainbows I've photographed in Rocky Mountain National Park and a memory I wont soon forget. Photo © copyright by Thomas Mangan.
