When traveling along Trail Ridge Road, just west of the Ute Pass trailhead up through the Forest Canyon overlook, visitors to Rocky Mountain National Park get a spectacular view of Hayden Pean and the Hayden Gorge from accross Forest Canyon. From these viewpoints the Hayden Gorge looks like you could just reach out and touch it, but in actuality, its one of the more remote sections of Rocky due to the difficulty in trying to access it. There are no trails and a trip over requires a 2000+ ft descent down into Forest Canyon only to come back up along with a tenous crossing of the Big Thompson River.
