What an amazing morning this was. It was the first of June when Rocky Mountain National Park was hit by a late, late spring snowstorm. I decided I would attempt to photograph Longs Peak above the clearing storm and inversion from Flattop Mountain. It was slow going on the trail that morning heading up Flattop Mountain, but when I got to the Dream Lake overlook, I could see Longs Peak and Thatchtop sticking out above the clouds. I setup my camera and waited for sunrise, hoping the clouds would not move back in. It was glorious when sunrise occurred and for just long enough, Longs Peak and Thatchtop bathed in the warm sunrise of morning. Photo © copyright by Thomas Mangan.
