Cub Lake Duality

This was one of those clasic Rocky Mountain National Park mornings for photography. When I parked my vehicle at the trailhead for Cub Lake, I headed off in the dark across Moraine Park in a steady drizzle. I did not think I would get any clearing at sunrise but continued on with the hike up to Cub Lake anyway. I could not see Stones Peak through the fog when I arrived at Cub Lake so I hiked to the west end of the lake to see if there was any chance of a colorful sunrise looking east. The clearing in the sky to the east was brief and lasted only a few minutes before the fog and rain settled back in. In those few minutes, I was able to catch a bit of Colorado blue sky over Cub Lake with fog drifting in and out of the pines over the recently thawed lake. Photo © copyright by Thomas Mangan.
