Taylor Rising Over Sky Pond

In a truly majestic scene, Taylor Peak is viewed at sunrise from Sky Pond. High above Loch Vale, Taylor Peak and the Cathederal Spires glow orange as the sun's first rays illuminate the peaks above Sky Pond. Sky Pond can be difficult to photograph as the winds that so often frequent Rocky Mountain National Park are nearly constant at this location just below treeline and 11,000 ft. I was very lucky this day to be blessed with almost no winds that allowed for a near perfect reflection of Taylor Peak and the Cathederal Spires in Sky Pond. The only ripples on Sky Pond are that of the lake slowly draining towards it's outlet to Lake of Glass directly below Sky Pond. Photo © copyright by Thomas Mangan.
